There is no legal reason why truckers can not use the public I have recently moved to Mornington (and I love it here) and travel
through Julianstown every day. I have a 7 year old son & we support this 'no trucks' policy. Apart from the fact that while letting someone out
of the bettystown turn one morning the trucker behind me honked continuously at me at this inconvenience, I just think it is too dangerous for
the kids & residents. Hello, me and my family moved into julianstown last summer,
we live at the julianstown manor homes and we've been searching for wireless or broadband services which do not have a quota on downloads and
are at reasonable pricing (50euro or less a month)and reasonable speed (512kps or 1mps or higher) we've checked with most pages suggested by
internet pages but no companies have services within our area, this includes net1 and fastnet, if you know any company or wireless or broadband
service who have broadband available in my area could you please email me the information. We Northern truckers will continue to use the old N1 (now R132) until we can diesel and food on the motorway. At present we save up to €400 on a fill up of diesel in the republic. There is a great roadside diesel pumps and cafe in Smithstown where we can fill up, Also a garage at Kilineer north of Drogheda. Its not about the toll as you people think. You should have known this when you bought your new houses. Hopefully, a new motorway service area will open near the Dunleer exit soon. Joe Delighted to hear that meath county council are putting 300k into safety and road measures at Julianstown. It is such a shame as Julianstown is a beautiful area but recently all I see is trucks & lorries running through it. Hope these new measures are taken sooner rather than later and maybe then these trucks will see fit to use the toll bridge and stop taking shortcuts.Best Regards! Keep up the good work on the website... Grace I'm sorry, I know I'm WAY behind on this one, but I've only discovered your website, and I feel the need to comment on one piece you've written...I'd like to draw attention to the 'report' you did on the M1 toll plaza robbery, way back on the 17th of April. Can I first say, that I find the glib nod that you gave to the ordeal that the staff went through, more than offensive. I happen to know one of the two ladies that were held up...she had a gun put to her head during the robbery and is terrified, to this day, of returning to work. I realise you have an agenda to follow, but you really shouldn't use the trauma that these women went through, in order to make a point.Secondly, your argument is riduclous:"Undoubtledly this raid, the second one in the last three months was aided by the relative unpopularity of the toll route when compared with the far more scenic and free jaunt through Julianstown." Presumeably, you are trying to encourage traffic to pass through Julianstown here? Far more scenic...free, sounds like you want traffic to go through your village, right? But wait..."...some people have commented that the National Toll Roads has been robbing Julianstown Residents of peace and quiet and a good night's sleep by diverting toll dodging cars and trucks through our village." Now it sounds like you DON'T want them to go through your village...So, which is it? For myself, I can remember only too well, the traffic jams that I had to endure each night, as I crawled through julianstown on me way home from work...now, I can take a nice short drive on a decent road, pay me 1.60 and be home from work in a third of the time it used to take me. Not everyone is pissed off at the toll road. Gerry (sent anonomously) Traffic calming, narrowing the road, a speed camera, two pedestrian crossings and signage Niall Howse 'bout organising a link to D'Old Mill's proposed future entertainment activities from a socialising aspect? Or perhaps a menu & price listing from The Julianstown Inn?? Alan Although I do not live in Julianstown I believe that HGV's should be banned from passing through the town.I pass through Julianstown every night and have noticed a convoy of Surefreight & Morgan Transport artic's speeding throught the town. These are all Northern Ireland registered trucks and have absolutely no business passing through the town. They should stick to the motorway and pay the tolls. Romano The web site is a great idea - delighted to be informed on a regular basis. Hope to be able to contribute in due course! Please keep the trucks out of the village. My children would like to walk or cycle to Whitesross N.S., but it is far too dangerous.
Traffic in general needs to be slowed right down. Road ramps, speed cameras, traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing near the school would be
a great addition. A great site keep up the good work. Hello, I was most surprised at the spelling of Gormanston (you have spelt in Gormanstown) in your posting about the advertisement at the Stamullen flyover. This has been a bone of contention with the people of Gormanston for years as people insist on spelling and pronouncing it "town" and not "ton". Perhaps an amendment is in order. I think the site is very good but someone tought is would be funny to put a comment on the gestbook with my name. I was not impressed with this and i would like it taken off as soon as posable. If there is another comment in my name which I did not put in myself I will seek further advice on how to deal with the situation for my solicitor. Brian Just wanted to let you know I enjoyed looking at your website. I loved the photos of the village. They brought back lots of memories of home. |
