Trucker's Hall of Shame

This page will publicly name and shame truckers who use Julianstown regularly. We'll publish photos, and other details of the worst offenders for convoys, speed, night-time and weeekend use.

We'll also publish contact details so that you can let them know what you think.

We would welcome email from truckers about what their thoughts are on tolls etc.

Some points to bear in mind

• Trucks only pay between €3-4 at the toll taking into account a special negotiated discount, multi-trip discount and VAT refunds. 

• Even if the M1 was 10-15 minutes shorter than going through Drogheda labour costs alone would account for this. HGVs gernerally use in the region of 4-5mpg. Any reduction in speed and or stop start significantly increases fuel costs. There are 14 sets of traffic lights and at least 5 roundabouts between Julianstown and Monasterboice.

• There doesn't seem to me any financial reason for trucks to avoid the toll

• On the other hand there are no services on the motorway so it is natural for truckers to pull off to refuel and eat.

• The trip through Drogheda is actually shorter in distance than taking the M1.

• Let the truck owners know.
